Our guide is a wildlife expert who has specialized in wolf observation in this region for more than 20 years. During the ride, he will lead us along authentic wolf trails and teach us how to recognize wolf tracks, as well as signs of other wild animals in their natural habitat.
He will also share personal stories, firsthand experiences, and his deep knowledge of Carpathian wolves, making this tour a truly unique and educational wildlife tracking experience in Slovakia.
Itinerary:
We start early in the morning from small horse farm in Stropkov District to make the most of our 2-day horseback riding and wolf tracking tour in the Eastern Carpathians. Riding south, we cross a small stream and climb through beautiful open meadows, enjoying wide mountain views along the way.
Soon, we enter the forest and follow the ridge between Miroľa and Suchá. Some sections of the trail may be slightly overgrown, so riders should stay alert for low branches as we ride.
Our journey leads us to the scenic Príkranské meadows. If time allows, we can take a short detour to visit the charming wooden church in Príkre — a hidden cultural gem of the region. Afterwards, we return through peaceful meadows and tranquil forest landscapes.
For the night, you can choose between two authentic experiences: camping at the edge of a forest meadow or staying in our cozy mountain cabin. Overnight, the horses will rest safely in a paddock in the village.
On the second morning, we continue our horseback adventure. Depending on how you feel after the first day, we can adjust the route and choose either a shorter or longer ride. The pace and distance remain flexible to ensure your comfort.
The main purpose of this tour is to enjoy two unforgettable days in the wild nature of Slovakia, exploring the Eastern Carpathians on horseback. We follow the famous wolf ridge between Driečna and Suchá, riding back through meadows and forest trails while watching for wildlife and searching for wolf tracks along the way.
